The Bund called Wàitān is a waterfront area in central Shanghai. The Bund usually refers to the buildings and wharves on this section of the road, as well as some adjacent areas. It is one of the most famous destinations in Shanghai.
It is on the west bank of the Huangpu River from the Waibaidu Bridge to Nanpu Bridge and is 1500 meters (0.93 mile) in length. The most famous and attractive sight which are the 26 various buildings of different architectural styles including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism and the Renaissance. The 1,700-meters (1,859 yards) long flood-control wall, known as ‘the lovers’ wall’, located on the side of Huangpu River from Huangpu Park to Xinkai River and once was the most romantic corner in Shanghai in the last century.
The view of Pudong is amazing especially at night.
Be there at 10pm (weeknights and Sundays) and 11pm (Friday and Saturday nights) to hear the chiming of the clock and watch all the main lights of the buildings go out (Waitan and Pudong side)
