The wish of a cancer patient

“Where the mind is without fear
在那儿，心灵无畏
and the head is held high… ，
头颅高昂
into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake”,
我的父啊, 让我的国觉醒，走入自由的天堂！
as this famous quote of Rabindranath Tagore ran through her head,
《吉檀迦利》的经典名句在她脑中闪现
her mind stopped at the word “Freedom”.
她的思虑停留在“自由”这个词上
That one precious word
正是这个词
for which she had so longed for all her life.
她终其一生一直渴望
As the raindrops splattered across the window
雨点在窗户上溅起水花
and raced one after the other,
好像是在赛跑
she realized that
她意识到
it would always remain a dream.
或许这只能永远是个梦
How she so longed for,
她是多么渴望
to get up early
早早起床
just to see the rising sun,
就为了看一看升起的太阳
splash the refreshing water of the stream
与小溪中清冽的溪水嬉戏
and dance across the meadows.
边跳舞边跑过草地
So many surprises that nature has in store for mankind,
大自然为人类准备了如此多的惊喜
but are so easily taken for granted
却时常被时若无误
in this continuous race of life.
在这生命的永不停息的洪流之中
Her life was almost the same as all those around her,
她的生活与周围大多数人并无二致
until that one six letter word changed everything.

Cancer.
癌症
One side of the world,
世界的一边
where life’s everyday challenges seem like a struggle to some,

while the other side,

where everyday is an extra boon.
每一天都是新的礼物
Each moment of life is special
生命中的每一刻都是特别的
and must be cherished.
应该被珍惜
Everyday is a blessing
每天都是一份恩赐
and must be enjoyed.
应该被好好享受
Forgetting this simple fact,
人们太过于善于遗忘
people tend to get immersed in their routine
总是沉浸在每日的流水账中
and forget the simple pleasures of life.
忘了生活中简单的快乐
As Hellen Keller once said,
海伦·凯勒曾经说过
“The Seeing See Little”.
视力健全的人其实看不什么
There are so many amazing things in store all around us,
在我们周围，蕴藏着那么多令人赞叹的事物
but we tend to take them for granted.
而我们总是将他们视若无睹
If only life would give her one more chance…
如果生活能再给她一次机会
how she would enjoy each moment to the fullest

and do all the things that she dreamt of!

as the rain slowly reduced to a drizzle

and the sun peeked out of the clouds,

she realized that

everyday brings something new

and is always a blessing in disguise.

Hope refilled her heart

as she vowed to celebrate life each day

and embrace it as it comes!
