The 5-second tiny habit that made the biggest impact in my 2016 is actually a non-habit. Let me explain. I used to come back home in the evening, and fall asleep pretty late with a sense of dissatisfaction.
这个在2016年对我影响最大的5秒钟小习惯其实也不算习惯。我先解释一下,我以前晚上回到家很晚才睡着,总感觉不满足。
I wanted to get back into my evening meditation, and yet I could never manage to fit it into my evening.
我想恢复夜间冥想,然而晚上总没这个时间。
I wanted to read before bed to wind down and catch up with my reading list, and yet it never happened.
我想睡前阅读来放松并完成自己的阅读计划,然而却从未实现。
I also wanted to write in my journal to reorganise my thoughts before bed, and I only managed to write once every week or so. It was a bit random.
我也想记日记,睡前重新整理思路,我只能做到一周写一次左右,还没有规律。

Every night at 9:15 pm I have a reminder set to tell me it’s “Amish time”. Phone off, laptop off, screens off.
每天晚上9:15我都设定一个提醒告诉自己到“阿米什时间”(阿米什:过着简朴而严格乡村生活的新教徒)了。关掉手机,关掉笔记本,关掉所有屏幕。
I only make an exception to this on Friday and Saturday evening, when my routine is a bit more lax. I don’t have a reminder, but I often switch off anyway and enjoy whatever I am doing.
只有周五和周六晚上例外,因为这两天时间安排的不紧,没有提醒我经常也会关掉一切,沉浸在我所做的事中。
This tiny habit (5 seconds) made a massive impact:

1.I journal every single day. Journalling is awesome and it allows me to feel a lot calmer, understand myself better, and make poised decisions.

2.I meditate in the evening a lot more often than I used to lately (which was never).
