As a foreign language teacher, who has not one or two laughs jokes. So, today I will share with you a joke between me and my students.
Student: Miss Wang, I want to have a Chinese name, can you help me?
Teacher: OK, let me think about it.
(About half an hour later)
Teacher: Okay, I figured it out. Your name is Jordan Knutson, you can name “Kāng”, is the meaning of health. Your name in accordance with pronunciation, can be called “Qiáo” which means bridge, and the bridge gives people a strong feeling. So both of them are good meanings. Moreover, there is a poem called “Zài bié Kāngqiáo (Saying Good-bye to Cambridge Again)” which is a poetic name. How about “Kāngqiáo”, do you like it?
Student: Thank you, I really like it. I am very happy that I have a new name.
Teacher: Well, let’s practise it: so what is your Chinese name?
Student: (a bemused face looking at me) KōngTiáo(the air conditioning)!!

老师：好了，我想好了。你的名字是Jordan Knutson ，所以可以姓“康”，是健康的意思。你的名字按照发音，可以叫“桥”，大桥给人很强壮的感觉。所以健康和强壮都是很好的。而且，中国有一首诗叫做“再别康桥”，很有诗情画意的名字。“康桥”这个名字怎么样，你喜欢吗？
学生：谢谢老师，我非常喜欢。我很开心我有了新名字。
老师：好的，我们来练习一下：你的中文名字是什么？
学生：（一脸懵懂的看着我）KōngTiáo!!
