Miracle Mandarin Language School Memo
Nov 2003
The name Miracle Mandarin is from an American couple Paula Desimone and Dave Kingsland, who tried the Miracle Reading program and were amazed at how many characters they were able to master after using Lee’s program only for a few weeks in Nov 2003.
May 2004 to May 2005
Lee Ann and Emma registered the company to run the Miracle Mandarin program legally in Shanghai. The first "campus" on Xinzha road is a shared apartment with only 2 classrooms.
May 2005 to Jan 2006
The second campus was set up on north Xiangyang road, 5th floor, with 5 classrooms and gathered up to 30 students in one month. Unfortunately, the school got notice to move during the Christmas holiday because of neighbors’ complaints about too many students slowing down the lift.
Jan 2006
Miracle Mandarin moved to an old lane house on 90 Qinghai road in Jan 2006 with the help of some students: Paola from France, Harry from Canada, Gonzalo from Argentina. A big housewarming party was held on Feb17. Luoxi, Cheng Na, Paola Caretta joined Miracle Mandarin team during this month. The Qinghai road campus is large and spacious with 7classrooms, attractive with special flavor of an old house and old furniture. The number of students increased immediately and all through 2006.
Sep 2006
Collaboration with the University starts. Xuhui campus on Fuxing road is set up after 2 weeks of quick renovation and furnishing work. The whole campus is about 500 square meters, has 9 classrooms and 2 offices, all designed by Lee and the construction work finished on time for use under the close supervision of Lee.
Nov 2007
Gubei&Hongqiao campus was set up on 59 South Shuicheng road. Lucy Luo was managing Gubei campus during the hardest time.
May 2008
Pudong campus was set up because many students were inquiring about Chinese programs in Pudong. The manager Wang Yingdong did most of the work of location, decorating, marketing, recruiting, etc.
Jul 2008
In July 2008 Miracle Mandarin received a notification that the old lane house on Qinghai road would be torn down and the school had to move soon. The school moved to west Beijing road at the end of July.
Apr, 2009
The Jing An campus on Beijing road had to move to a larger place on 319 Changde Road because the building on Beijing road are not satisfying the needs of the students.
