MM Course Levels
Miracle Mandarin course covers 8 levels from beginner level to advanced level.
Beginner course starts every month. Non beginners can join a course any Monday after a placement test.
Students can choose to study intensive course 20 to 30 classes a week, or a part time course 4 to 9 classes a week.
Intensive course are strongly recommended for students who want to improve Chinese in a short time.
With Miracle Mandarin group class, it takes 5 semesters, 15 months to reach the intermediate level, about HSK test level 6 to 8.
With the intensive class 30hours study a week, it takes 10months study to reach the intermediate level, about HSK test level 6 to 8, which is good enough to deal with life and work in mandarin.

Learning Objectives
Elementary Level: (Level 1 to Level 4)
After completing Miracle Mandarin elementary courses, students will
1) master a vocabulary of 1,500 to 1,900 words;
2) finish learning the grammar of the elementary level and basic lexical usage
Intermediate Level (Level 5 to Level 6)
After completing Miracle Mandarin intermediate courses, students will
1) master a vocabulary of 3,500 to 4,500 words
2) master the grammar and lexical usage of the intermediate level
Advanced Level (Level 7 to Level 8)
The learning objectives of advanced level course are to have a vocabulary of 6,000 to 6,500 words, speaking fluently on social topics; master the newspaper and magazine reading skills, improve comprehensive listening skills and writing skills.

  • Able to understand greetings or regards/well wishes from others.
  • Listen to basic personal information.
  • Listen to the quantity and price of commodities.
  • Listen to simple instructions.
  • Listen to expressions of apology.

Speaking

  • Able to greet others or respond to greetings from others.
  • Able to express the simplest information that has a direct bearing on oneself.
  • Able to make the most basic requests or seek help.
  • Give basic personal information.
  • Ask about time and date.
  • Ask about a train schedule.
  • Ask about address and telephone number.

Able to understand simple discourse that is related to personal experiences.

  • Listen to the time and venue of an event.
  • Listen to someone introducing a new friend.
  • Listen to simple description of a commodity.

Speaking

Able to provide basic information about oneself.

  • Ask about others’ hobbies.
  • Tell one’s location.
  • Describe the features of a lost article.
  • Ask about travel arrangements.

Reading

Able to understand approximately the most common instructions or signs that have obvious meanings and are clearly expressed.

  • Recognize the personal names and place names in a picture.
  • Recognize commodity names.
  • Recognize the expressions of quantities of articles in a text.
  • Recognize names of tourist places.

Writing

Able to fill in a form with the most relevant personal information in simple characters and words.

  • Fill in personal names.
  • Copy addresses.
  • Fill in time.
  • Fill in occupations.

Elementary 2

Able to understand casual conversation, introduction of a general nature or telephone conversation.

  • Listen to someone describing his hobby.

  • Listen to description or a travel itinerary.

Speaking

Able to give a simple description of a situation or condition or a simple account of an event.

  • Describe one’s colleagues or friends.
  • Describe one’s holiday.
  • Answer a telephone or leave a message.
  • Ask about the functions of a commodity.

Reading

Able to roughly understand general messages, notices or simple tables.

  • Read airport and train station shedules.
  • Read a course schedule.
  • Read a Lost & Found notice.

Writing

Able to give brief answers to simple questions that are closely related to one’s personal life.

  • Copy commodity names and prices.
  • Make a shopping list.
  • Write a message.

Elementary 3

Able to understand standard conversation, grasping the main idea and key information.

  • Listen to description of a school.
  • Listen to description of a product.
  • Listen to description of a house and its facilities.
  • Listen to brief newscast.

Speaking

Able to participate in group discussions, make suggestions or proposals, give reasons, express one’s opinions or point of view.

  • Talk about one’s work.
  • Describe one’s eating habits.
  • Describe a special past experience one has had.
  • Compare the similarities and differences between two work units.

Reading

Able to read messages, records, emails, text messages on general social occasions.

  • Read private correspondence.
  • Read job advertisements.
  • Read brief conference notices.
  • Read simple short stories.

Writing

Able to give a simple description, narrating a very familiar event, story or a plan.

  • Write a letter of thanks.
  • Fill in a simple application form.
  • Write a description of one’s personal details.
  • Write an E-mail.

Intermediate

Able to understand a speech or discourse on a familiar topic but with a more abstract or complicated content, understanding its main idea and grasping the speaker’s aim, attitude, etc.

  • Listen to someone describing how something happened.
  • Listen to radio or television interviews.
  • Listen to a doctor describing a diagnosis.
  • Listen to someone’s biographical account.

Speaking

Able to converse and communicate with others effectively in a wide variety of social and work situations.

  • Describe the characteristics of a certain profession or trade.
  • Talk about a film that one likes.
  • Tell an anecdote about celebrity.
  • Present one’s research topic.

Reading

Able to read and understand letters or other type of practical writing found in work, daily life and study situations, including the working documents within certain operational domains, and to understand accurately their content.

  • Browse through leisure magazines.
  • Read popular science articles.
  • Read biographies and autobiographies.
  • Read business texts.

Writing

Able to write texts of some lengths on the common topics in everyday life, study or social activities in accordance with certain format, convey or express information in an appropriate manner.

  • Take minutes of a small meeting.

Advanced

Exemplification of Tasks

Able to understand clearly articulated speech or discourse uttered at a normal speed in a wide variety of social ,everyday work or study environments, understanding the points and grasping the details.

  • Understand some proverbs, idioms, implications of and allusions to what is said.
  • Listen to radio or television news.
  • Understand more complex dialogue and speech related to workplace and social activities.

Speaking

Able to engage in discussions on specific topics related to their employment or field. Able to take the presentation about their own work.

  • Engage in more detailed conversations on specific topics.
  • Join discussions and arguments, state their own opinions with clarity and argue with the conclusions of others.

Reading

Able to understand more complex language materials, determine main ideas, identify important facts and details and the structure of the text.

  • Browse through newspapers.
  • Understand popular science articles related to work, study or personal life.
  • Understand accurately narrative compositions containing some proverbs, idioms and figurative language.

Writing

Able to describe, take notes, or explain on specific topics and write relevant documents or articles smoothly. Can reflect reality and express personal opinions.
